I've lived in Houghton Lake for about 6 years. I've been coming here since I was a kid. It is beautiful here about two weeks total each year. The rest of the time it is either too hot or too cold, too muddy or the bugs are too thick. In the winter the people walk around with a dead look in their eyes. In the summer there are so many tourists that a quick trip to the grocery store will take you an hour and traffic is horrendous. I usually get snowed in for a couple of days every winter and the roads and weather are so bad that most locals would never ruin a newer car by driving one here. All in all, it's just wonderful.

I'm a life long Michigander, and I love it. I live in southwestern Michigan, and I find that I enjoy the change in seasons. There is nothing as stunning as a Michigan spring--the redbuds, the dogwoods, bluebirds and sandhill cranes. Summers here are as warm as many parts of the south, but Michigan has beautiful lakes and rivers. The sky is a fabulous blue and the sunsets are great.
Fall in Michigan is one of the best times of the year. We have some of the country's best scenic routes. Check out the apple orchards and fruit farms, too. And, I guess you just have to love winter to enjoy it here. We get wild variations in the winter, but there's plenty of time to enjoy all the traditional winter sports.
All in all, Michigan is a wonderful place to make a home and visit. I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be.

I grew up in Michigan. I love it. I will eventually settle there once my kids grow up.
I remember camping, hunting and fishing there. Nothing like a motorcycle ride to the U.P. and getting a cabin in Gould or neat the pictured rocks. Caseville rocks!! Get a cat in Mio, nothing like a Mio cat. I have a sister in Flint, a sister in Fenton and my Mom lives in Heartland near Fenton. My Dad used to live in Hazel Park. I went to the same High School as Eminem... lol my half brother was in jail with him that night of the bar fight.
I joined the Army when I turned 18. Four years later, I stayed in GA for the next 12 years. I moved to California for the next 7 years. I am now moving to Washington State. I will eventually go full-circle.

I now stay decrease than 20 minutes away, so i wager its easily one of my well known tracks. so a techniques as site visitors is going, its been alot more suitable useful the superb 2-3 years. considering I come from the east by skill of M50 I even ought to park in lot 14, it really is on the different facet people-12 from the music. It is the best. 3288 miles of Great Lakes shoreline. 11000+ lakes. Hundreds of islands. Fantastic beaches and sand dunes.
I would find it depressing to live in non-seasonal weather. Who wants a Christmas without snow on the ground?
