This time of year lettuce is cheap. Beer in this warm weather just be used as a refreshment. Why waste it on slugs?

Get a cheap beer (Pabst does a good job and it's not like a slug will request a Beck's) and clean out your traps often.
Does in the wasps as well.

use salt instead of beer. It's cheaper and it makes the slugs explode.

copper is supposed to stop them. usual application being a wide band of copper around the pot. if you're talking about an entire garden, i guess it could get expensive! keep the beer and get a hedgehog instead. they love a juicy slug!

Lettuce will not kill slugs, use slug pellets.

Just use the dregs of the cans you drink; or buy some Aldi own brand for 40p a tin and freeze it in ice cube trays.

use the beer, you can still drink it afterwards....don't worry about the lumps.
