I think it is a brilliant observation and a perfect description of all the liberals who malign the right as being intolerant.

I think this quote is too black and white, and misses the point. Besides, the word "tolerance” is a poor choice for this idea, and implies a sense of power. How would you feel if I said I merely "tolerate" your question? It implies I have some privileged position to decide the value of your words and feelings. But if someone recognizes the possibility that they do not have such a privileged position, they allow for the thoughts and feelings of others from a perspective of mutual acceptance. That doesn’t imply a lack of belief at all. If I really believe my position is correct, I do not need to attack someone else’s to feel secure. It is also not mere “tolerance”, but actual recognition of the value of the other person.

One hopes he has confused Tolerance with Indifference.

And there is an inescapable problem with Tolerance. One cannot tolerate Intolerance. The object of racial discrimination cannot be accused of Intolerance for fighting against racists acts and ideas, for example. Too wide a definition of Tolerance is really Indifference, and evil thrives when good men do nothing.

I actually like that quote!!!

Look at my user name to see my thoughts..."Warequalspeace"

The meaning of Tolerance today is rather Intolerant.

After all, does a Homosexual Community Tolerate a Right-Wing Christian?

A person who truely believes in something will stand up for what he believes rather than tolerate something else. When we no longer believe, we have no will, no driving force, to stand up to anything, so we become tolerant push-overs.

It's dribble to me.......if you don't believe in anything there is no need for tolerance. Furthermore tolerance would not be condusive to nonbelief.......doesn't make sense. No belief, no tolerance needed........
