I have to have an ultrasound today due to a possible ovarian cyst, but I am wondering if they would be able to detect a possible pregnancy (like, a week before my period is due). Is it possible that early??

The pregnancy test can pick up the pregnancy BEFORE a ultrasound can....I had a positive pregnancy test and yet on an ultrasound they couldnt see anything..went back week later and sure enough there it was...

the earliest clue to a pregnancy by ultrasound would be the presence of a gestational sac, which we can usually see by 4 weeks AOG(thats about 6 weeks after your last period). before this time, there might be some evidence that you "might" be pregnant, like an increase in the thickness of your endometrium, but that is not conclusive for a pregnancy.

I had early ultrasounds with both of my pregnancies. At 6 weeks they saw a yolk sac in my uterus, but no fetal pole (the beginning of the baby). At week 7, they saw the baby. I think in your situation, since you probably haven't even implanted yet, they probably won't be able to see the baby (if you are pregnant).

Too early...Transvaginal ultrasound exams can see the gestational sac (early pregnancy) at 4 weeks pregnant, not before. The sac will be too tiny.

I saw the heartbeat with a vaginal ultrasound at 5 weeks

i had an internal ultrasound at 2 weeks pregnant and it told me that i was pregnant with twins.
