i think it is AMAZING that she said, "We are ashamed that the president of the US is from Texas" for the second time. You go girl! Does anyone agree that is a wonderful thing that free speech is alive and well? It's really sad that Country music abadoned them, though.

I feel sorry for the pathetic brainwashed Americans who believe that you must support George W. Dumbass to be a true America. Wake up before we are all blown away.

I couldn't agree more. Why is it the people who scream the loudest about being proud to be an american are the first ones to completely disregard the constitution. I'm not a great lover of country but go Chicks.

Why is she your hero? Because she read that the media was against Bush, and if she came out and said something outlandish against him, the media would endlessly support her? You want a hero who skillfully manipulates the press, with no cost to her? Their current album is flat melodically, but because it is talking about "real issues", and continues to be "defiant", then the media praises it no end. This is heroic? Selling out to get good press?
Can you honestly say that anything on their current album is as good as "Wide Open Spaces"?
Free speech is a good thing. But Maines isn't doing anything heroic - its all a calculated effort on her part to take the Chicks away from country and make them more "L.A. friendly".
Read about Patrick Henry. Read about some of the things Ronald Reagan said about The Cold War (and how the media at the time ridiculed him for it) that all came true.
Saying things that are true, and getting ridiculed - that is heroic! Saying calculated political slogans to get you better reviews is cowardly and manipulative.
You have lots to learn about life and real heroism.

She has the right to her own opinion and a right to voice that opinion this is what America is all about,"Freedom"however as far as country music abandoning them, well in America everyone has the right to their own opinion,so hopefully she realized their could have been and was most likely going to be consequences because she voiced her opinion so publicly

I agree with you 100%. I'm not a huge country music fan, but the fans are part of that group that blindly follows the leader, so they took total offense.
I however, think they are entitled to their opinion. Doesn't make me dislike them, or their music!
Those girls can sing and play. They sound great.

It's even more sad how much money they're going to lose by shooting their mouths off.
But hey, if she's your hero...good luck on the Maines diet. That's a lot to have to eat every day.

Yeah, it's wonderful to go to another country and talk about how bad your country is. And, if you talk about the leader, that is exactly what you are doing. Nothing like going to other countries and telling them your country sucks.

i totally agree with you. to me their may be a deeper issue than just the comment she made. the country music industry has a problem with cross over artists in general. just look at the flak they give faith hill. i would hope that texans would be more enlightened then that.

Yes, it's great that she can have her say. But don't forget, it means that even the people who don't agree with you can have their say too.
