I think this was discussed in I-Robot. Where the main character was upset that he was still alive due to the fact that the robot calculated his existance as a higher percentage chance of living than the fact that he was an adult male and the latter was a small female child. I think if humans weren't meant for emotions, we wouldn't have them.

There's no such thing as leading life without emotion. That concept is largely a cultural stereotype derived from popular culture depictions of intellectuals.
The reality is, everyone has emotion, and all people use it. Some people express it differently than others.

Technically, psychologists consider fear to be an emotion, so yes it would be harmful.
If you weren't afraid of anything, you'd be dead within a year.
Think about the number of times you "instinctively" jumped out of the way, ducked, or otherwise protected yourself from bodily harm.
No emotion --> no fear --> no self-protective instincts --> death by large bus at crosswalk
;)

yes it would be harmful. because you would always think with your head and not your heart. so if you could save a child with an amonut that she has 23% of living, or an adult, with 35% of living, youd choose the adult, because it would be logical, and not feel for the child that could have lived. without emotion you could not truly love or care for anybody, not even yourself. and so on, hope this haelps...

Others might think it harmful to them, because you would be "an insensitive jerk," but it might actually be healthier, all decisions would be made using logic. There would be no bias in any decision and more correct choices would probably be made. I don't imagine that it would be enjoyable though, but it also wouldn't be sad. You would just be.

I think it would. Peole expect emotion. If they get none, they may feel slighted or hurt.
