France thoroughly outplayed them. They win by a hit crossbar. Lame.

Don't forget Zidane just missing a head-in goal in regular time.

Materazzi said something..............

Don't forget Italy outplayed France for the first 60 minutes of the 120 minutes. Remember Luca Toni just missing a head-in goal and actually hitting the top of goal frame in the first half.

So many people forget that Italy lost in '98 World Cup to France via penalty shoot out, and that Italy was the better team in extra time there.

Italy was lucky. Lucky that they had the skill, team work, coach and players other teams were lacking. FORZA ITALIA. they deserved it. They outplayed France in the first half, France outplayed them in the second half. But then italy outplayed them again in shootouts. Also France's goal was a penalty shot that i am not so sure should have even ben given? Zidane went after a player and the Henry was tierd and went off. Why cant anybody agree that Italy made better choices and had better teamwork.

I agree, France played better but Italy won. That's the name of the game...and no, France did not loose because of Zidane getting a red card...they couldn't score a second goal in 120 minutes!!!

Italy lucky what are you talking about France were a bunch of loose-rs they bought the world cup in 98 (that's why Brazil were allowed to win in 2002) and the euro in 2000 (where did those 4 extra minutes come from?) they haven't earned the right to have any stars on their shirts

I thought Italy played the final to their strengths by playing counter attacking football. Everyone is going on how well France played but you have to remember that Italy is never going to score 4 or 5 goals in a match. The reason for this is that their game plan is built around one defender named Fabio Cannavaro. They were the most effective team in the tournament when it came to getting the job done, but definitely not the most exciting. Overall Italy probably just shaded it, but hey, what a great final.

France and FRENCH people are the BIGGEST cry babies the world has ever seen. France got an undeserved penalty kick but you don't want to talk about FACTS. FACT France got an undeserved penalty kick against Portugal in the semi-finals. France world champs and they CAN NOT SCORE ONE REAL GOAL in the semi-finals and finals? What a joke France and all french people are. France the BIGGEST sucks the world has ever seen. ITALY WON.

You are a sore loser. Italy scored the only real goal. Just missed only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. So what if Materazzi said something, Zidane is a grown man and knew what was at stake, what a buffoon!

Italy beat France, there is nothing you can say, they are the world champions. They could not score on Italy, they couldn't make all their penalties. Stop crying.

PK's are always debatable because you could be lucky or you could be unlucky or you could just take an incredible shot. Also depends on the goalie and how he reads the shot. Italy lucky?...nah, France was just unlucky.
