Every time I go to a San Diego / Raiders game there seem to be 4 or 5 fights. Do you have to be a gangster thug to cheer for the Raiders or does it just help?

Not all of them are thugs.

But for years Al Davis has been promoting the image of the raiders, the silver and black, as the bad boys of the NFL. He's succeeded, and that attracts a certain type of person to pull for the team.

So the Raiders fans in Oakland are maybe a little bit crazier than the average psychopathic football fan, but the Raiders fans from elsewhere in the country are most likely going to be really into the thug image and behavior. Add to that the long standing rivalry between them and the Chargers, add in some alcohol, and you see why you see the fights.

Well, yes. A prerequisite to being a Raiders fan is having some sort of Raider Nation sticker on your vehicle and also (optional) a Dodger sticker, or just the LA in blue or black. You must also participate in several "kickbacks" a month and wear your socks pulled up over your knees. Also, a true fan will incorporate some sort of Raiders tattoo if they are truly "down". You must peruse the local swap meets to purchase raucous memorabilia such as beanies, shirts and flags that you prominently display from your windows. I hope the above mentioned information helped.

Go RAIDERS!!!!! It's not a prerequisite or anything but probably helps.I think for the most part Raiders fans just like to get into the part of Big Bad Boys for a day.Real life can get so mundane. It's a way to blow off steam, drink beer and yell loud. Don't care for the actual fights but even I have gotten into heated "discussions" about both football and baseball. No fistfights yet, though.

They are not any worse than Philly fans.

Those wannabe thugs at Raider games just act rowdy at the games.

They never hang around on 66th ave or International after the game is over.

That's where the real thugs are.

Just like every other sports teams out there, you have your good fans and your bad ones. Playing their home games in Oakland, they do tend to attract a rowdier bunch though.
