the demand for the Firebird was down...they always said they had plans of bringing them back after a few years..I hope so, but I also hope they limit production instead of like Ford with the Mustang..they are way over produced causing them to lose value too fast, and making them to common to see..the GTO could have been better but at least they limited the production so seeing one is rare..making them hold value..and if they stop making them again, which I think they might, it will retain value for years and be a collectors item like th eGrand National was ofr Buick..The reasonthe GTO sucked,,also in 73 and 74 was b/c John Delorean no longer worked for Pontiac..he was the head designer of the car from 64-72...I am excited by the pix of the new Camaro, hopefully they come out

The demand for the firebirds and its sister Chevy car the Camaro was seen slipping. Pontiac tried to replace the Firebird with the GTO, but athat too has bombed. There has been talk and sever Camaro concept cars seen, however GM has not said it will be restarting the line or not. The Grand Am has been replaced by the Pontiac G-6. The replacement for the Chevy Cavalier (also the Pontiac Sunfire) is the New Chevy Cobalt, which the platform for the G-6 is founded off of. The semi replacement for the sunfire would be the G-6 coupe.

I don't know what the heck is wrong with pontiac. I own a 1998 sunfire and I love that little car. It's cheap on gas and looks sporty as does the firebird so I'd like to know what gives too. Maybe it's because of the hybrid cars coming out and the high price of gas which I won't even get started on here.

they stopped making firebird/trans am/camaros cause GM does some really dumb things every now and then. they were replaced with the new gto, which should have been called gtjoke. the sunfire/cavalier has been replaced by the cobalt. and no the grand am has been replaced by the g6.

GM is arrogent and thinks that people will buy their cars just because. They forgot to build cars people actually want. I think this might be changing when I see new stuff like the solstice and HHR. Nobody younger than 80 wants a front-wheel drive Buick sled. Nothing affordable in rear wheel drive for years. They forgot that the GTO was an upgrade on an already great car, the LeMans/Tempest.

Im thinking maybe the sales werent up to par but the G6 actually replaced the Grand Am supposedly. I drive a G6 & I actually love it. I wasnt too keen on getting a Pontiac at first but when I test drove it, I was pleasantly surprised

sunbirds and grand ams still in production. sunbird will be replaced just like the cavalier was replaced in chevy. both are same body types and makes so eventually sunbirds will be released as something else. firebird, same deal with camaro. discontinued for now but will eventually rise up with a new style and powerplant
