It may have been the 'clever' people who invented the technologies which have 'brought the world to an end in 100 years' but it was the ordinary folk who abused this technology to their comfort (driving cars when we have busses). Yes common sense is important , but it still takes clever people to predict the effects not just common sense.
As for nuclear waste the science is well founded, and for once the future outcomes predicted. it is not the scientists responsible for the mess, but the politicians who listen to the bits they want to hear, and insist on cutting corners.
So yes, common sense is vital but even with it politicians will still srew up the world so long as they think only of themselves

Firm jelly you are not set in your ways. I entirely agree with you.
Yes, intelligence drives out common sense. They drift off into a world of their own and are not anchored in reality. In fact, it is intelligent people who decide what intelligence is, then they set tests to prove that they are right.
The more intelligent you are, whilst you may make fewer mistakes, the ones that you do make, are profoundly big ones.
If they are intelligent, they are not wise, and they are often not moral. Science is their God, so that they self justify everything that they do. They have no religion, so they do not have to comply with the usual moral code which guides the rest of us.
Common sense, is a kind of intelligence, based on accumulated wisdom down the ages. It is practised by people who have their feet on the ground; people who, like a child, can still think laterally and spontaneously.
Intelligent people seem to be following a pre-ordained path to our mutual self destruction. In their world, there isn't a spiritual dimension, no accounting for their actions to a higher authority.
They actually believe that they can explain and control everything. Until they realise they can't. And the guy with the common sense says, "I know that I'm not as intelligent as you, but, I did tell you so".

As I'm not one of the clever ones: no one can blame me for the state of the world... Thank God!!
And if it's going to end in a 100 years: by then I will be 143, and more likely than not, well gone by then: along with most of my family, I should think!!
As for the statement... 'there is no answer'... there are many answer, and many solutions: but nobody is interested my friend!! They are to happy with the way things are... and don't want to upset the apple cart!!!

Yelling "loose marketplace" is purely what's necessary. coverage agencies at the moment have a good time with a monopoly on the area that they serve. This regulation needs to be gotten rid of so as that persons and communities might want to purchase coverage accross state lines, consequently encouraging competition and using costs down. it extremely is person-pleasant sense reform and robust for the monetary device and client

The world isn't going to enough because of the clever people who invent things. The world's going to end because of the stupid people who use the clever people's inventions to do stupid things.

Intelligence will be the end of humanity. Essentially we've evolved to the point where we're so clever we can destroy the whole planet in one push of a button. I kinda believe in evolution, and adaptation and evolution to survive. As such, I believe the planet is the larger entity here, and will also adapt to survive. And if that means destroying us to save itself, so be it.

I'm very upbeat about our world. I think you are right- common sense will sort things out. I plan to have children one day and I'm happy that they will grow up in a nice world full if common sense.
