it depends on the shape of the object.
If it were a sphere you need to find its radii and calculate the area by A = 4*pi*r²
If it were a cube you need to find the lenght of its edge and the area is A = 6*L²
and so on....

in 1 m^3 there are 1m^2 as 1m^3=1m^2*1m
so in 85.9 m^3 there are 85.9 m^2
another way of looking at it and may be the right way of looking at it would be 85.9 m^3=(85.9^1/3m)(85.9^1/3m)(85.9^1/3m)
so there are (85.9^2/3)m^2 in 85.9 m^3

85.9 m² in 85.9 m³
assuming, of course that you have a box with a surface areaof 85.9m² and a height of 1m.
otherwise:
V = (base) * (vertical height)
(vertical height) = V / (base)

There is no conversion formula. m^2 is for two dimensional shapes and m^3 is for three dimensional objects.
