Materrazzi may have talked bad about Zidane being old and bolded head and tease him that he couldn't head the previous ball into the back of the net. So, Zidane turned back and give him a headbutt.... just my guess. Nevertheless, soccer game is very physical and mentally challenge. Materrazi may have planed it all along before going into the PKs as Zidane is no doubt the greatest PK kick in this decade. Finally! I think the Italian played beatiful thru-out the FIFA worlcup. They deserve it.

~Having routed for Italy all through the playoffs, I am thrilled that they won. No other team that I know of shows such emotion during and after a game. Only in soccer can guys kiss one another and no one calls them fags!

As for Zidane, winning the Golden Ball is not a bad way to end your career. Aside from the fact that Zidane has a notorious anger management problem (about the size of his ego), he is still a great soccer player. To be red carded in the final phase of the World Cup is something he will have to live with.

Did his career end on a bad note? Definitely because many people are still wondering if he had been there for the shoot out, if France would have won. But his overall career is amazing. If you saw him in the France vs. Brazil game, then you know he is an outstanding player.

Now that he has more free time, perhaps he'll get into therapy for his temper. Although, somehow I doubt it.

If you ask me, something pushed Zidane over the edge. I didn't like him from the start. But I have to admit that that was one ferocious head-butt. My god, knocked the guy to the ground! But my opinion is that Zidane ended the world cup on a bad note for himself for sure.

Yes.... congrats to the Italian team! Well, hopefully Zidane won't be remembered for only this.... he was a great player and it's unfortunate that he lost his cool in his final game..... I'm sure we'll be hearing more about what was said in the coming days too....

thank you! I'm an Italian fan but I love Zinedine Zidane (go Juventus!)...
Don't make this incident seem like the worst incident in the history of world soccer!!!

Remember:
- Maradonna drug scandal in 1994
- Italy broken nose against Spain in 1994
- Rooney against Portugal in 2006
- De Rossi against Mc Bride in 2006

These things happen in the fever of the game!!!
