Actually if an African player was in Materazzi's place, then it would have been even worse (for both, in many ways).

um... well Zidane isnt an african player, but he IS african (from Algeria), so i dont think much wouldve changed... It was a white person insulting a minority, whether black or arab or whatever, so I think FIFA is going to do something about it anyway

He would have received an immediate red card and probably get an additional sanction, just like Rooney (no sanction for Zidane because that was his last game)

i dont think the reaction would have been any different. sure there's the race card, but zidane was playing his very last game and he's a great
