Are there any other direction finders out there other then Mapquest?

Just about any of the standard search engines have a mapping program. I prefer using Yahoo, myself... Whenever I've worked with Mapquest, I tend to get a bit confused by the directions.

MSN also has a program, as does Google (both of which you can find links to below).

Beyond that, I would recommend simply typing in a search for "Driving Directions" on Yahoo. That should bring up a decent number of online programs for you to use. :)

You can use Yahoo Maps at http://maps.yahoo.com which has a new Beta feature where you can chart a map along several points. Suppose you are starting at point A and going to point C but need to make a quick stop at point B, you can get a map which makes it easy to get directions from A to B to C in one single click. Thats the power of Yahoo maps.

One more map tool out there is Google maps at http://maps.google.com

yahoo maps is 10x better than mapquest

There are quite a few. For the UK, you could try the RAC (RAC.com) and I'm not sure if they do USA aswell. Or you could try GoogleLocal (select two different places and it will find a route for you.)
