First, DON'T try to force it out. You'll just make it worse. Try a spot corrector containing sulfur, like the one available from Murad. It's about $16.50, and you can buy it at Ulta, Sephora, Beauty Brands, etc. If you live near a place that sells Kiehl's, try their drawing paste, which contains azulene. It smells, but will help draw out the infection so that you CAN safely extract it. Another tried and true method - toothpaste. Good, old fashioned, plain Crest. Get a tube from the travel size section of your mega-mart or drug store. Apply before bed - it brings down the swelling.

This is cystic acne, it's truly a terrible thing. The thing is, it's not your fault in the slightest from hygiene. Most doctors will tell you that you can do little but wait for it to emerge at the surface. I suffered from it some time ago, and my method was to take a sterilized needle and, as bad as it sounds, release the pressure by poking it through the side. Yes, it hurts. Yes, it WILL almost always cause scarring, most likely in the form of pitting, which looks something like a shallow depression. I haven't met a doctor yet who would recommend doing it, but different strokes for different folks. However, if you're really desperate, you could go get a prescription for isotretinoin, or an antibiotic of sorts. Our homecoming is this saturday, assuming yours is the same, you could possibly be rid of this within the next 3 days. As dumb as it sounds, drinking a lot of fluids *does* seem to help. With you skin, and just better all over. I'm not sure why. If your urine runs clear, you're hydrated. I think it's because whatever toxins build up have a more efficient medium to exit through, but who really knows. Some days I've had 3 gallons of hot tea, only because I like to drink tea. Straight water can get mundane... Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hi, Yenny V, my name is Hank. Sometimes a pimple isn't a pimple. It sounds like you might have a sebaceous cyst. I am not a doctor, and I am unqualified to make a diagnosis. Only your doctor can diagnose your "pimple" correctly.

Sebaceous cysts are troubling, because when you pick them they just fill up again with a cheesy like substance. Not to worry, though.

To get rid of the offending cyst you need to visit a doctor. They are the only people qualified to remove it. The cyst has a little pocket in which it grows or whatever it does.

The doctor, to remove the cyst successfully, must excise this little sac, or it will just fill up again. I have a really small one, and have tried, unsuccessfully, to remove it myself. The next time my other cysts act up the doctor will remove it then.

It seems sebaceous cysts are a familial trait, and strike people democratically. So, it doesn't matter if you are male or female, rich or poor. We all get them.

I know all this talk about cysts is yucky--but, such is the reality of life. Yenny V, see your doctor about this. I could be wrong, but the cyst thing sounds like what you have. Again, give your doctor a heads-up about it. I'm not a doctor, and I could be wrong.

It's a cyst. Quit trying to pop it or you could rupture it under the skin, resulting in a much larger bump!! You can apply a heat pack (nothing that burns or is uncomfortable) to help bring it to a head, and use some 1% hydrocortisone cream which will help reduce swelling. Don't use rubbing alcohol, that's just a skin irritant, or any other weird thing.

Other than going to a dermatologist, there is no "quick fix" for these and the more you mess with them, the worse they get.

oh i just hate those subterranean pimples... they hurt! at this point there's not much you can do but leave it alone... if you mess with it you'll make it worse by irritating it... put some salicylic acid on the spot to fight the pimple and an ice cube to fight the redness and swelling.... that's about it.

DO NOT try to pop it... when they're that deep you can leave a permenant scar on your face if you try to pop it. remember, the pimple will be gone by friday... a scar is forever.

if you have a dermatologist you can get a cortizone shot to get rid of it but it still takes a day or two and costs big $$$.

It could be an ingrown hair. Try pressing the skin around it, so that it becomes semi transparent, and see if there's a hair there. If so, try using a needle to make a small opening, and then hook the hair with the needle and pull it out. Pluck it afterwards. However, the red bump will remain there for still a long time.

i am 36 years old, and i have had my fair share of these...i know it sounds crazy, but don't try to pop it. This will scar your face!! Use an astringent on your face EVERY morning and EVERY night. Use a cotton ball to clean your face, and use as many as you need until you see no remaining dirt on your face. Once this is done, just put lubriderm lotion on your face regularly. Cleaning your face with an astringent will open the pores and clean it out, and lotion will close the pores back again. I have had clear skin for 15 years using this technique, and it has never failed me yet.
