I gained weight after being abused so that no one else would prey on me. Now I'm trying to lose weight, and afraid that I'll be weirded out by getting attention for my new thinner body. Any suggestions for gettting comfortable in my own skin again?

ME TOO. I have gained alot of weight because I didn't want the attention I got from men, I am currently trying to lose weight, but is a struggle from my mind not wanting me too...just so you know you are Not alone. It takes time to recover from this and remember that not all guys are bad. I wish you the best of luck. and if you want somone who is trying the same thing my email is

I too think it is good that you found the connection between your weight gain and the abuse. That means you are healing from it and moving on with your life. I did the same thing without knowing that I was until I got older.
When I did lose 65lbs I felt great and had alot of men looking at me for the first time. It was kind of overwhelming at first and scary too. But, I enjoyed the attention alot. Just be careful that you take any relationships that might happen, very slowly. You need to get used to your new found looks too and you don't want to end up "used." That is what I did and I reverted back to my heavy self to keep from being hurt again. So, it can be a double edged sword.
Just love yourself more and continue to heal!
Best of luck to you!

Sweetie - keep reminding yourself that it was not your fault. I applaud you for realizing why you gained so much weight and tryin to deal with it.
You deserve to be healthy both physically and mentally so keep doing what you are doing. You will find that you are sexier to men when you lose the weight but that is not what makes you a whole person. You are a total package and it takes time to be comfortable with who you are.

GOOD LUCK and GOD BLESS
