the first two answers are incorrect. They are south of LA not north!
There are many wonderful restaurants in Malibu, but I like Gladstones and Moonshadows the best.
In Santa Barbara there are a few great seafood restaurants right on the pier that are GREAT!! Moby Dick's is an old school SB tradition and there is a tiny little place at the end of the pier that is DELIcious!

Gladstones 4 Fish in Malibu. It's nothing fancy, but consistently decent, and the location is great... right on the beach, so it is definitely very "Malibu". It's on the coast highway on your way up to Santa Barbara from LA.

Outback is a national chain, I can't say for sure if there is one in your immediate area, but they serve Lobster/seafood as well as steaks, and many other great dishes. Which I highly recommend.

Geoffrey's in Malibu on PCH. The food is quite good and the setting is gorgeous - it's almost all outdoor patio seating right on the coast overlooking the ocean.

Moonshadows is a gorgeous restaurant off PCH Hwy 1 in Malibu.
