I work in a public area. Today I saw a young male walking and holding his pants up at the same time. Looks retarded to me. Maybe he has a bigger brother. Maybe he wants to show off his back side to other guys. Don't know.

the baggy clothing is so they can hide the drugs and the gun......
think about it.... if the clothes were tight... you'd see the outline of the gun in his pants....

First it's not just Blacks, several other skin tones wear this "New" style.

As for it's origins, it should help to make people want to stop wearing this style.

It's from the Prison System. Inmates started this Sag look as a means to hide weapons during searches.

Imagine that a style of fashion developed by criminals.

Personally I can't stand it and I get onto my younger son about it all the time. He's a straight A student with good values, but for some reason he has bought into this Sag look because it's cool.

I hope he grows out of it and soon!!!

News Flash: African American males are NOT the only ones doing that. That trend has crossed so many color lines. I've seen Hispanics, Whites, even Asians wearing pants that way. It's just a fad, a style, that eventually (hopefully sooner than later) will fade and something else will take it's place.

I think that your question is silly because when I walk around I see latino, white, black and asian men in the same style. So its not race its the fact that men today are try to look cool but end up looking like idiots!
Yea the style came from the ghetto but why are the rest of them doing it too if they are smart and don't wanna show off heir back side to other guys?

The "sag" is actually a product of the prison environmant - guys who were the "girls" in prison relationships wear their pants this way for easy access. What these people don't seem to realize (or maybe some do) is that they are presenting the image of a "receptive" homosexual by folloing this fad.

This was actually from poor kids growing up in Harlem (true story). Kids had to wear an older brother's hand me downs. About 25% of the kids in Harlem had hand me downs and pretty soon people thought it looked cool and copied them.

It's been a trend for a while now.

I HATE THAT. However, AA are not the only ones, young whites try to be like an AA by doing the same thing. It is such a turn off.
I wont even look at a guy or think about doing him if he is dressed like that. i also refuse to ask them if the want a lap dance while I am at work.

It's from prison. In prison, you are not allowed a belt. Oh, by the way, I am black and I don't sag my ******* pants. Sorry I don't fit into your shitty ******* category. With an attitude like that, maybe you shouldn't work in a public sector.

It started in prison so the guys could get between thier Bit$$H legs quick. So when the prisoners were release these young men who looked up to them started dressing like thier ex-inmate gang leader.

White boys do it too, it's pop culture. The same reason little girls wanna go around dressed like hoocie mamas with undies showin and shirts so tiny looks like they were painted on. It's popular. Everybody says let them express themselves when they don't realize they're expressing mass media and pop culture, not themselves.
