what and how

I usually calm down quickly after an argument with a good friend. I would take a few minutes and analyze the situation. If I were wrong, I would call and apologize and ask to put it all behind us and move on. If I felt I were still right, I would call him/her and ask to discuss the problem calmly. This has always worked for me, so it is really a good approach, or I have been just plain lucky.

I hope this helps.

If it were an insignificant argument I would humble myself and apologize first. Better to apologize than to let a good friendship go over pride. Remember, it takes two to tango, and so you are somewhat at fault in the first place.

If it is an argument over your friend doing something morally wrong and you are trying to get her to understand that, then I would come back after awhile and say, You know, you're my friend and I love you and I don't want to see you make this kind of mistake; I value you so much as a person and a friend that I don't want to see you lower yourself like this, because even if you don't realize it today, you will someday, and so it's better to realize it and put it aside now than to reap the penalties of it later.

Hope this helps,

Rebecca

If it's a friend that I care deeply for, then I'd try to repair the friendship. If not, then try to forgive and forget.
