He has a great arm, butr the old school in me would go with Clemente, and as someone else replied, other great arms that Ichiro may be close to, but not exceed, would include: Ellis Valentine, Willie Mays, and Dwight Evans. Parker and Vlad Guerrero also had/have a great "hose" but probably not as accurate as Ichiro.

Roberto Clemente had a bazooka for an arm. He played right field in Forbes Field, and gunned out a ton of guys at third base from the rightfield corner..until guys wised up and stopped running on him. BTW, Dave Winfield had a great arm also. I remember an article about 25 years ago that listed the best arms in the game at that point. It went something like this: "Most of these guys started out as pitchers, but they hit too well to only play ever 4 days. They still throw strikes, now they are from 300 feet". And Winfield topped that list. But even he was no Clemente.

i have NEVER heard Ruth or Ichiro mentioned in discussions of the best outfield arm in baseball...Vlad and Larry Walker have the best in recent years probably...Clemente was by far the best EVER though, he had an absolute cannon. Vlad reminds me of him...people know and knew better than to advance from 1st to 3rd on a shot into the right field corner if Clemente and Vlad are/were in the outfield!!

No, Clemente had a howitzer, he didn't get assists, cuz no one dared run on him., Bo Jackson could hit the plate on the fly from 400 feet, maybe Ichiro has one of the best arms currently, but in the history of the game? No way.

I've seen Larry Walker throw out way too many guys at first base from right field to say Ichiro is better. I would also put Vlad ahead of Ichiro.

You've gotta be kidding me. He doesn't even have the best arm in baseball. I've seen Vlad Guerrero and Jose Guillen launch the ball like rockets from right much farther and faster than Ichiro.

No way. Dwight Evans, Roberto Clemente,Dave Parker, Dave Winfield, Vlad Guerrero, and from the 50s, Carl Furillo. Ichiro is more flashy, which earns him points, but any one of these was as good or better than SUZUKI.

No, Jeff Francoeur has arguably the best arm in the major leagues. Last year he only played in 70 or so games and led the National League in outfield assists.

I would say ichiro by far as the most accurate arm
but not the best power arm
his ball gets there when it is needed
why somebody like vlad just chucks it in the direction.

Among todays players, Jeff Francouer has a great arm. The best I ever saw was the legendary Roberto Clemente1 I have been told that former Dodger great Carl Furillo had a great arm too!
