I have heard conflicting reports on water consumption. Conventional wisdom once dictated that you must consume 6 to 8 glasses of water per day and that coffee, tea, sodas, or virtually any other beverage does not count. Recently, however, a study revealed that water in other beverages did meet the bodies hydration requirements. The only caveat to this is that they may possess other substances, such as caffeine, that negated the benefit of the fluid consumption. Even if you drank caffeine-free, diet soda you would still be consuming something that would have the be filtered by your kidneys. Your best bet is to drink water and avoid the controversy.

carbonated water has the same nutrients and such as plain water, however carbonated drinks are not good for you. It can cause weight gain and such. Stop drinking soda or carbonated beverages and you could lose 5 pounds minimum with no problem. Also, plain water keeps you hydrated more.
