what i mean is, why do some people say (for example) "Heels are so gay, i prefer sandals" or "That's so gay. I can't believe he's bringing his bike!" you know what i mean? why use "gay" in a bad context like that?

to whomever said "it's funny": there's really nothing funny about using it in that context at all. it's just ignorant.

It's funny. No, really, it is. Because people get all worked up over it when the person who says "that's gay" only means it like "that's stupid". I think you're over-analyzing it a bit. Mostly teenagers say it, right? So they just think it's hip. Nobody says "that's gay" and means "that's happy", they mean to say "that's dumb". It's not exactly nice, I agree, but people still say it.

in grade school, our older brothers/sisters always said that's gay and if you WERE the oldest, you heard it from other ppl at school. It is an endless cycle that keeps on going and will never stop, so when ppl say "gay" nowadays, they usually mean Wow, that's really stupid and not homosexual. That is why everybody knows the old riddle of "Why did the chicken cross the road"

Many people are insecure about their sexuality, so they have to invent ways to portray themselves as something other than gay.

ppl forgot that gay has got another meaning too, which is "Happy"
There is that channel on our tv called gay tv but it has absolutely nothing to do witth gays it just means(The channel) gay as joy or fun..

It's just slang and being Gay isn't necessarily a good thing. I really don't think people give it a second thought.
