What's the difference between a B.A. and a B.S. in biology? I'm also considering getting a masters in biology later on, so which would be the best choice for a bachelors?

Personally, I'm not familiar with there being a B.A. in Biology since it's a pure science, but maybe some schools out there offer it.

FYI, a B.A. and a B.S. are both Bachelors, a B.A. being a Bachelors of Arts and a B.S. being a Bachelors of Science. The only real difference between them is that a B.A. requires more liberal arts and classes outside your major.

Which route you choose to go is a personal one, and you really can't go wrong since they'd both require the same degree of biology training. If you don't want to take more classes outside your major, then lean towards the B.S. If you want to round your education a little more with non-science and non-biology classes, then lean towards the B.A.

B.S. would be better for most anything in the long run, but especially for biology, because it is a science

i would say a BS would be better. BS means bachelor of science, BA is B of arts. so with a BS you are taking more biology classes and with a BA you are taking more liberal studies.

My suggestion is that you discuss the differences and their benefits with the program advisors where you want to take your masters. They will be able to tell you what that school prefers, what sorts of concentrations of courses they want to see on your transcript, and how best to apply yourself in your undergraduate studies... think of them as being the customer you want to make sure you satisfy.
