I saw this link about Russia and I almost spit my food out of my mouth

Wow. That article has definatly intrigued me. I have been looking all over the internet and cannot find one fact that supports such a claim. I am just going to have to assume that the Russian man had heard wrong about such a Dutch law. He may have even just been trying to be funny. Or trying to make a point to the President about the migration of the young people in Russia from the rural areas to the cities. Now Holland was one of the first nations to permit same-sex civil unions and they have very intense animal protection laws, but I don't think it goes much further than that! There is a movement toward calling pets "companions" and their owners "guardians. It is a movement to see them less as property, and more of a non-human with rights. I'm pretty sure those don't include matrimony rights!
