isn't it just something you have to do to prove you love the person. In the back of your mind you think "if something goes wrong i can always get a divorce".

now gays want to get married when the bible says that it wrong.
why don't they just say they want a piece of paper stating that they have all legal right as a same sex couple?

what is marriage?

doesn't the pastor hold a bible when he's marrying a couple?

so why would gays want to get married that way?

Yes, i agree. Divorce is way to easy these days.

Problem is, with everything going on around us, the job, the career, the family, the kids, the car, the friends, the stress and all, people just don't want to think about the what if's and are relieved when they can just say "well, i can always get a divorce just in case".

Remember, divorced people were never really in love or experienced what true love is with the person that they were married to.. They just didn't understand the feelings associated with "The meeting of minds". They were in love with that other person for a reason, usually of some material or money gain for them.

If there was enough time for everyone to understand humanity and all, divorce wouldn't be part of our vocabulary.

Thank god i've never married.

I blame a good part of this on the fact that the U.S has suddenly become a "throw-away" culture. With products being made so cheaply, rather than getting what they have fixed, they ditch it and buy new things. I have a bad feeling that this state of mind has transferred to relationships as well.

And, the only reason that gays are fighting so hard to gain the right to marriage is that people are so close-minded that they can't wrap their tiny, shallow brains around the fact that all love is divine. It's love, no matter what religion, race, or creed they are. We're wrapped up with our victorian morality and yet we have sexual images thrust in our face everyday. The response that Americans are starting to give is to treat relationships as cheaply as they do everything else. "If it's broke, don't fix it" is sadly becoming the new motto of the U.S.

If we would stop worrying about what a piece of paper or a book says is wrong, and pay attention to the happiness of the people around us, I think we'd find ourselves living in a much more harmonious state. Treat human beings with the respect that we all want and deserve, and you'll find yourself getting love and respect in return. As soon as we all figure that out, the better.

Nonono, the Bible says "Do not lie with a man as you would a woman, for it is an abomination"

You COULD interpret this to mean you should not have anal sex with women.

The bible has NO problem with lesbians. they aren't even mentioned.

That aside, the legal aspect of marriage is completely separate from the spiritual aspect. Gay marriage being legal does not affect the church. Pastors wiil always have the right to choose who they will & won't marry.

Canada & South Africa have legalized gay marriage, and it hasn't caused any problems.

Specifying gender in a marriage as far as the law is concerned is sexist, period.

Here's what I think:

10 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong

01) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

02) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

03) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

04) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

05) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

06) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

07) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

08) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

09) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

well fortunately, we aren't governed by the bible and marriage is a legal arrangement. we are free to believe in what and whoever we want. do you honestly believe that times, society and people haven't changed since the bible? get serious! people can get married in a nondenominational ceremony, they only use a bible if they choose too, like i said its a LEGAL ceremony NOT necessarily a religious one. and no marriage isn't about proving you love the person, i suppose you think its better to have a system where people can treat each other like complete crap and not worry about any repercussions like divorce...oh yeah that would be great. what you end up with is men who are monsters and women who are treated like slaves and cattle. its been tried, thats what happens.

and bob only americans in alaska reject air conditioning!!

The bible says a lot of things, but it's a book of mythology...most people who think some of it is true, don't buy into all of it...if folks are going to pick and choose parts that are "right" and parts that can be ignored, why can't the part about gays not marrying be ignored like so much of the rest of it is? *shakes head*

There's no real reason that any two consenting adults of any sex, race, or religion should not be able to marry if they so choose...they are harming no one by doing so...

Americans are just divorcing left and right, and gays are a bunch of creeps. in sum, americans don't know what marriage is, cause they dont have foundations based on culture......We need to do something quick!!! what's all this about kids having to go with mother, then with father.. etc.. kids are being treated like puppets. Nothing, because everyone is divorced. 2/3 of all first time marriages end that way. And 7/8 of all second time marriages end in divorce.

why does it have to be about americans? we know what the bible says. and you are a narrow minded person, as i can see. worry about you, not other people. people should have the same rights as everyone -else.. it is for god to judge not you.
