No, they don't. That's why they spend all winter sniffing around and digging randomly all over the garden. They may indeed, find their own again (they can probably remember what street they buried it in, given that they have never been out of it) but chances are that they'll find some other squirrels nuts, dig them up, and eat them. Which is just disturbing.

Yes of course they do, they hide them in the late summer and early autumn to keep them going through the winter.
If they didn't remember... they would DIE!
I am sure some get lost in the process though.

Brown squirrels do, they're sensible, yet them terrible gray (American) ones do not remember the position they cover them. they're extremely thick and nick each and each and every of the nuts off the brown squirels.

Naaawwww, they just hide their nuts in a tree and forget about them!! They have an internal compass unlike most of us and can remember exactly where they've been.

no i think god plants them in places where squirrles dig, just for the fun off it he must hide them sometimes to!
