Most men I know are so full of machoism that they never seem to cry. Isn't crying a natural way to release stress? If so then why do most men hold it in or use it as aggression?

Because men like to think that they are macho and like to pretend that they are the strong ones, signs of emotion like crying is hard for them to deal with. To answer this questions fully we must first discuss what crying and emotions are to women.

As women, we say "gee whiz, why don't they just let it out... I know there is something going on in there, why can't they just talk about it, why are they hiding it".

As women, we like to talk about our problems and in fact most of us deal with our problems by talking them out. Men see this as a weakness, they don't like to talk out their problems (and don't really like it when women talk out their problems to them). When something is bothering a man they tend to keep their mouth shut and they "mull" it over.

You are right, crying is a great way of reliving stress. However, men generally have different ways of doing this. Playing games, working out just to name a few.

The most important thing I can say though is that, as women we want men to show emotion. But asking for your man to be able to cry is a double edged sword. When men cry it is usually never good. (Something really bad has happened).

Because they were probably raised that men don't cry.

Also, I just don't think most men have the same emotional makeup that women do. I can walk into a room and be able to "take in" everything around me, from the color of the walls, the aroma in the air and even the general mood of the people within. My husband can walk into the very same room and never see, smell or feel anything although he might admire the architecture of windows....... Men and women are just plain different when it comes to feelings and emotions.

Well from experience.. I have been drilling it into my head that (male) sissies cry... I have myself though especially if I go through an ordeal after drinking a little... However, the rule still applies... it is not machoism as you refer to only the unwritten rule... I have since revised the rule... Only SISSY men cry in public... By your self or with a loved one is different... This goes back to way before my time.. if you were a pisspants winer who cried all the time you were treated like the black sheep... I don't make the rules I just defy them...

It's a cultural thing. Men in the west are taught from a very young age not to cry. "Be a man!" "Suck it up!" Which is bull. Crying is a natural release, and men need to get over the brainwashing.

It is in our culture for men to be the stronger ones. I feel that men tend to hide their emotions better than women, yet they release their feelings in other ways. I have seen few men cry, but I have seen it. However, in my entire life, I have NEVER seen my father shed even 1 tear. Pretty crazy I know.

I think men do cry, just not through tears. I also feel women are more accepted by friends and family when they cry, whereas men are still taught to be tough. Sad but true.

men are taught to hold their feelings in. as children they are told that boys aren't supposed to cry. crying can be a good way to relieve stress but thats why men tend to have more stress related problems than women. they don't let it out or they let it out in the wrong ways

For a man to cry in front of another person shows weakness. All men cry, it just that most do it in private, unseen by other people

Crying is a sign of weakness to many. When you cry that indicates that you have reached the end of your rope and can no longer control yourself. Many men insist on having as much control over themselves and other things as possible...so they avoid crying at all costs. Many people dont look up to people who cry.

Showing emotions gives the view that men are not strong inside. , or that they are weak in the mind when it comes to having control and all.

It's just a false perception. Something about life that we won't admit to, but agree with.

Not all of us hold our emotional side back. Just some.
