well it differs from people to people for a shallow person looks matter alot and for a sincere person personality matters.
in light of the aboe statement i will say that for me personality matters for me(i dont want to look shallow) just kidding it doesn't matter if the next person is fat or has a wart on his nose it matters if he makes u laugh.

Being a libran, I always think there's a little of each. However, I must say that looks without personality is worthless, whereas personality without looks can be stimulating.
That indicates that the reason personality/looks combinations (in a single person) can be so explosive is mainly due to the influence of strong personality using the more mundane tools of appearance.
However, there are some personalities where you can't even quite seperate the two; the beauty complements the personality to such an extent that they're partly the same thing. I'm not saying this is true of just anyone who is attractive, since sometimes attractiveness can even take away from personality, because on some level you expect more out of them, and the reality doesn't mesh with it.

Personality is a broad term that includes everything about an individual. Thus, looks is a part of personality characteristic. But I assume that you are not a psychology student...so, let me just answer the question, instead of criticizing the question.
Looks count initially...but later on, personal characteristics become more important. We would lie if we say that we don't give importance to looks in the beginning of a friendship. It counts a lot. Humans are attracted other humans who 'look' good and appealing. However, once friendship has been built, then looks take a back seat. The personal traits of a person become more important at later part of a friendship.

Personality is much more important in a relationship. What good is beauty if you can't stand being around the person. Does it matter how pretty the food is if it tastes like poop? It's the same thing with people.
Staring at someone's pretty face gets old extremely quickly. However, having an interesting conversation will always be a pleasant experience.

Yes personality truly rules over looks. Looks can fade. The person u r dating can be in a tragic accident and come out with permanent burn marks and then what will u do leave them. But if there heart is good and they r a really nice person u will be there to help them heal. Try listening to Don't Change: Musiq Soul Child.

I do, most definately. Whats the point in dating someone for the looks if they have a terrible personality? It's the personality that you gotta deal with i mean you could be wiht the totally sexy or hot person but their personality could be the crapiest one in the whole entire world and it bores you to death and why stay with them if its trturous? Just to say "my boyfriend (or girlfriend) is the hottest person in the world" and gloat about it? uhh.....stupid much? C'mon without personality they wouldn't do anything fun or interesting with or for you. If they were boring they wouldn't make the time oyu spent with them fun and exciting... just.... boring.

Personality IS the person. Sometimes you have to get to know a person before you are attracted to them because you have to get to know them as a person, not "as their representative" as Chris Rock calls it.
If you want an armpiece, then personality won't matter, and your armpiece won't be a down to earth real person either.
You'll be like Ken and Barbie.... totally plastic!

I don't know. I mean I couldn't be with someone I couldn't stand to look at, and I couldn't be with someone with whom I had a personality conflict. I would say they are both important. That and really good sex.
