Why do people have such an issuse with BDSM? i have been in the lifestyle for years and so has my Master i just want to know why people have the issuse that they have.

The best answer that I can think of is that there is a tendency to fear what is different and unknown. Human history is replete with examples of this, leading to such thing as racism and holy war. In the field of sexuality, it hits (excuse the pun) closer to the skin.
Sexuality has been a big topic since the sexual revolution of the 1960's. With the development of contraseptives, one of the biggest concerns that sex involved, the accidental reproduction of another life, was minimised. It opened the door for a world where sex was (gasp!) pleasurable. All of the sudden, this challenged the orthodoxy that was the social norm of the time.
To be fair, the sexual revolution did produce its negative results. It is without coincidence that the divorce rate began to skyrocket about that time. Abortion as a form of birth-control became a major issue. Also, many children were born to unmarried women, which increased their chances of being born into poverty.
Back to the subject at hand, there is the notion that BDSM is yet another step away from the traditional view of sexuality. That's where the irony comes in as BDSM is not all about sex. Sure, there is a sexual component to it, but it is entirely possible to have a BDSM relationship without involving sex between the two persons involved.
The odd thing comes when the relationship is one of husband and wife, yet somehow BDSM is still "wrong". For that, I go back to my original assertion that it is a fear of the alien. It's a lot like saying, "I do not like chocolate, so I cannot believe anyone would eat a food that is so bad for them."
However, you know that you and your Master have to keep things under wraps. As long as the danger is there, so too must be the silence. Perhaps one day we will as a society no longer fear that which is alien and learn that diversity of thought and action will be at least accepted.

As a former psychiatric counselor, I will stay quiet on the psychological reasons for such a lifestyle. To each his/her own.

I have no idea. I guess some people don't understand why you would like that and they feel weird about it. However, to each his own.
