They don't actually have to be "real" and can exist in some erotic fantasy land which is in their heads...
... sort of like drugs, it can be more fun than "real life".
Porno girls don't ever present the more "real" nature of themselves, unless maybe on their "official site" (and even then, it would be bad business to have a cam show and say "I am really feeling quite turned off and NOT horny or excited to be here today so today you can just watch me sleep").
... and men aren't forced to confront the reasons that they "can't get" anything even close to the fantasy in real life: not rich enough, not polite enough, not well groomed enough, not hot enough, not possessing the right social skills with women...
This opinion is only regarding those addicted or obsessed with porn...

People can get addicted to anything at all. Porn movies or mags, gambling, drinking, drugging, caffeine, medications, bingo, video games, TV, their job...
The thing is that some people have addictive personalities, while others do not. There are people who can do any of the above - and stop at will.
