First off you have to have hair to shave in the first place. Then keep shaving around the part(s) you want to grow. Depending on your skin type you might have to always remember to mostruize under the beard as hair can dry out the skin underneath. As you grow anything (beard, stache, chops) your temptation is to scratch it because the small stubble starts to itch but just let it go and don't disturb the skin too much. Keep it clean and mosturized. Have fun

you dont shave the area that you want to grow. dur!!!! and be sure your talking about a goatee and not a vandyke (vandyke is with the stash, a g is just the chin) for faster growth, pull on it slightly and it will grow a bit faster. you wont realy notice it though.
