These two 'ologies' are both popular subjects. However, the differences between the two fields of study are not necessarily widely known.
Sociology is concerned with the full spectrum of social behavior (individuals, small groups, large organizations, communities, institutions, societies and provides strong intellectual background.
Sociology intersects with psychology in the area of social psychology where both look at the dynamics of human interaction in groups.
Psychology focuses on understanding human behavior, understanding the "HOW and WHY of YOU."

Cypher World is right in his definitions. Psychology and sociology do cross paths often though - that's why people are advised not to take the two courses during the same semester.

There is a great deal of overlap once you start talking about Social Psychology versus Sociology.
The former tends to focus on the individual as a part of a group, and the latter deals with the behavior of the group.
But the overlap is so extensive that many Social Psychologists could be best described as Sociologists, and vice versa.

I guess to do just a quick little comparison, sociology is more studying of people's actions with each other, while psychology is studying people's brains and their way of thinking.
Here are some links to help you compare.

I'd like to add that psychology is much more of a science - you can do experiments. Sociology seems a bit more like observation and theory ...dare I say waffle?

Not much really just don't say that to the tutors - they get very defensive.
Both subjects covered crime on my last course.
You could say that Psychology covers how one person acts (serial killers etc) & Sociology talks about how groups react (football fans, hoodies etc).
I much prefer psychology.
