I am planning a trip to Colorado Springs and the Denver area. I would like to know how the weather is in mid-August.

Basically hot (90+), usually dry, but chance of afternoon thunderstorms, cooling off nicely in the evening. Here are weather charts with the averages and records.

Hot in the 80s or 90s, it gets cooler at night, like in the 60s but it doesn't cool off until late because the sun doesn't go down until after 8 pm. We do have some thunderstorms, and if that happens it will be a little cooler. It is very dry, for some people this is better, but some people have a hard time with the lack of humidity if you aren't used to it. It can be hard on your sinuses, so you may want to bring some sudafed or something and be sure to drink lots of water.

Hot, but very dry, so you will not feel the heat (low humidity of 20% and lower). Spectacular thunderstorms.

well it is pretty dry but we have gotten so much rain this month we could drown. It is kind of nippy around august though.
