Is anyone else sick of these programmes which supposedly include "celebrities" and then when you see the list of people it's like one of them was X celeb's son or this one is famous for cutting the hair of Y celeb? Half of them I have never even heard of.

(New prog Love Island 9pm today spurred this question!)

What's truly bad about the whole thing is that the "celebrity" brush has tarnished everyone. The inclusion of these no hope wanna-be's that relentlessly spew forth pointless TV show after TV show & books about their meagre "lives" that include only hardships they inflict upon themselves in lives so far... sometimes even shorter than mine is bringing into disrepute everyone that actually deserves the title. The Media Industry builds up and toys with these nonces (for that is what they are) so they can unleash yet more pointless, vacuos garbage mags and trash rags to slate them or celebrate them for one thing or another (often both slating and celebrating the same thing just on a different week).

Those that deserve some recognition for outstanding contributions to entertainment or acheiving amazing physical or mental feats or developing the next great technology that saves thousands of lives get lost in the sea of perpetual screaming babies that can manage to pluck out their eyebrows and then draw them on again in ten seconds flat but probably couldn't manage to read ten pages of a basic level novel.

Any body worthy of the true title of celebrity is not going to lower themselves to the degrading format of these shows and even the more celebrated success' such as "celebrity come dancing" have no higher merit than simply "come dancing" ... it just costs more to make and inflates the egos of people that a great deal of us would like to see a lot less of.

The only problem of course is that if it didn't sell... it wouldn't get made.... so before we go slagging off the TV shows maybe we should stop watching them!! (Fortunately I managed that sometime ago... about the time the horse pundit fool got his Y-fronts out in BB I believe)

These programmes are a cheap way of producing programmes that are time fillers that appeal to simpletons.
As for the "celebrities" it seems to me that to qualify for the title you have to have
1,stuffed loads of cocain up your snout,
2, be a has been actor/ess
3,done any hard drug besides no.1
4, be a failed pop "singer"
5, slept with a footballer and spilled the
beans for cash
6,be a failed model on the skids
7,be a wanabee
Basically these people are useless, with an entertainment value of -10 , they are trying to start or restart lucrative T.V. careers, what time wasters

yes it gets on my nerves to. what about celebrity cooking showdown? remeber that? i barely recognized people. you know what else gets on my nerves, all these shows like craziest celeb moments, red carpet mistakes, bla bla bla that make fun of celebrtites. and the people doing the jokes are comedians or whatever that we dont even know. its very lame. i mean they sit there and dog out famous people when they haven't exactly made their mark in hollywood, to put it nicely. once they star in some huge movies are tv shows then they can talk all they want but right now they are just annoying and come off as unfunny and conceited.

I loved Jade shaking with rage interior the mattress room beforehand because Ken doesn't do as she advised him, lol, what an conceited no mark she nonetheless is. And Jermaine the different evening telling Shilpa 'you won't be able to reason with stupidity' about Jackiey,

Too right. The real meaning of celebrity is one who is celebrated (Recognised and publically applauded) for something agreed as
outstanding. Kelly Holmes, 2 gold medals for the UK, for instance.

Yeah, it's slightly stupid.
Some guy said something like "In America, you have to be famous to walk on the red carpet. In the UK, you walk on the red carpet and you *are* famous." It's true!
