Who do you think is the better couple, Batou and the Major or Kuze and the Major?

I've always thought that Batou's relationship with the Major was more brother/sister. Consider how he's mentioned (more than once, I think) that she should dump her female body for a male one --not exactly something you'd counsel your ideal girlfriend to do (er, unless you're into that kind of thing).

That pretty much leaves Kuze by process of elimination, but toward the end of the 2ng GIG, they did seem to have a connection (unless you count the hug as something desperate people about to die do). I don't remember her showing that kind of affection for Batou.

I think it is a tie. Kuze and the Major are High end units. They have much more spiritual conection. This is shown by her willingness to end physical existance in part for/with Kuze. Batou (thank you for spelling his name right) and the Major are both mature warriors and have strong physical conection. This is shown by Batou's extreme distress when the Major is trapped under the rubble in the finale of second GIG. He was urgently concerned for her life/body.

Batou and the Major have a platonic relationship, the kind that cant be expressed in a sentimental way, nor by touch or kisses. Its a pure relationship that continues in Innocence. You have to see the movements slow and delicated between them (in the movies, i have not seen the series)

bateau is nigh on obsessed with kusinagi and it shows heavily in the second movie as without her bateau is at a loos for what to do with his life and ends up living a rudimentary existance hoping to find her again, but she is uninterested (ref. "tachikoma runs away/the directors dream") as she is already hung up on someone from her past, the boy who folded the paper cranes (kusinagis hospital mate if you will) but she has to let go of him. this said i think you have to accept the movies an the series as separate because the movies dont quite fit with the continuity of the series
