I have lived in two different border towns. Currently in the Border with Juarez. There is a lot of Mexicans that cross the border everyday just to go shopping. They can spend. Another thing I have notice is that they are family oriented. Chuck E Cheeses is always pack. Electronics are expensive in Mexico so they buy their electronics in the USA. They buy use items and take them back to Mexico for resale. You see trucks full of Bikes and strollers crossing the border.
I guess they are money savvy and they get their merchandise for less where ever they can find it...

Seriously? Rent out your house phone so they can call home. Or buy a Western Union franchise. This advice is not limited to just Mexican immigrants, either.
