My Computer is running Windows XP and when I turn it back on it runs a disk check. I have cable internet and a Pentium III. Is their some software that I could download to fix it ir something? Help!

this can be caused by so many things
overheat
RAM problems
spyware
virus
windows problems
to many programs running in background
best thing to do is run, a spyware scan.. a virus scan etc..
i would scan with adaware SE, windows defender, and also get system mech pro 6. from http://www.iolo.com

Check the power on your laptop. If that doesn't work, try checking for viruses. If that still doesn't work, tech support for Compaq might help. I don't recommend formatting the hard drive unless you can't do anything else. Some laptops come with things that you can't reinstall because they were installed at the construction of the laptop. Meaning only Compaq has those items.

You might want to check the power supply or see if all the fans are working - could be overheating or not getting right amount of power.

there's probaly a bad connection anywhere from the powerlines over your house , your house powergrid, the not pluging cord tightly in outlet to having a bad powersupply on your comp.
