A scanned form is stored as an image in your computer, as the others already said. I understood that you want to add somehow some text and/or tick marks in this picture and email it as attachment to somebody.

Well of course you can OCR it, but the result will be more or less far from the original form and I'm pretty sure you don't want that; so, the alternative is to get an image editor (software) and use it's function of adding text into a selection. It's as easy as that! I personally use either Paint Shop Pro (an older version) or Irfan View 32 which is an image viewer (freeware!) with some useful features, one being this one: adding text into selections, by right clicking inside the selected area. You will just have to select a rectangular area which covers the editable area and add inside it the text you want to "type". Good luck!

Using a program such as Word or Wordperfect, you can import your scanned page as a graphic.

Next, set the graphic to allow it to be overwritten by the text. In Word, after you import the graphic, you would click FORMAT - Picture and then click the LAYOUT tab. Set the format to be BEHIND TEXT.

Now, you can move your cursor around using the enter key to move down, and the space bar to move across setting the text where you need it on the form. You can save the form as a DOCument, or using a free utility such as PDF995, output the entire file as a PDF Doc.. Both can be attached to emails for returning to the company.

YOu can also print and mail/fax the doc. When you print, the form may be a bit fuzzy, but the text will be sharp.

You need to import it from your scanner into a program that will convert it to a document (Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, etc.) using OCR. There may even be free programs to convert it for you. When you scanned it, it probably got saved as a jpeg or some other image type file which is geek for picture. Obviously you can't type in a picture, that is why it needs to be converted first.

If you want a simple solution you can add a text box using the insert option in word or a similar program but this may move around when opened on a different operating system so be careful!

usually when a form is scanned into a computer, the scanner scans a picture of the form. in other words, you probably can't type into it. you may have to re-create the form.

sorry.

You will need to install some software known as OCR software. This will allow you to edit the scanned text.
