Compared to other matches, the ref was fine. France was dejected after Zidane made a bone-head play. Soccer isn't a sport where one player can make a physical difference but he sure can make an emotional difference.

The penalty at the 7th minute was not justified but the ref thought so.
France deserved a penalty when Malouda was brought down but the ref didn't think so.
So I think the refs had been fair.
As for the red card, I think that such a talented player like Zidane shouldn't have reacted like this. The red card was a good decision taken by the refs.

How were the refs bad..they gave France a f*cking penalty kick in the 7th minute...what more could you ask for another? Shut up Italy won the refs were very fair so just shut up and eat it...

Were the refs bad? They were terrible! No question about it, France did not deserve that penalty. In fact, France didn't even deserve to make it that far; Portugal played a far better game in the Semi Finals. So I guess that answers the second question. Viva L'Italia!

You stupid ignorant MORONS. The ref's CHEATED for France. That penalty kick in the 7th min was pure BS. France couldn't even score against Portugal and got a penalty kick that wasn't a PK. France COULD NOT SCORE ONE REAL GOAL in the semi-finals and finals. You IGNORANT FOOLS

Sure, when your favorite team loses, it's always the referee's or the other team's fault... ;-)

It's a *game*!!! The world isn't ending tomorrow because France didn't win. They still are 2nd best in the world. Be a sport and get over it.

yes ... the second fouls in the penaty area should've been a penalty.

but the ref prob thought " hmm, give another penalty to France?".

might have looked biased.. so he didn't rule for it.
