1024 BUT.... hard drive manufacturers "pretend" that 1000 Mb equals a Gig in order to claim their drives have more space than they really do. A 160 Gb hard drive isn't really 160 Gig... it's actually less.

Most commonly referred to as 1,000 megabytes, but more accurately known as 1,024 megabytes. So 1,024 megabytes equals 1 gigabyte.
