Whenever my laptop starts it says that the operating system cannot be found. I just formated the hard drive and reinstalled windows the other day. It worked fine for a couple of days then started saying that it cant find the OS. I checked the BIOS settings and everything was fine. I checked the connection and it was fine. Can I hook up the HD to my PC to recover data, or what do I do to recover data? Thanks

First of all, make sure the windows CD is not left in the cdrom drive, or any other "bootable" disk for that matter. If there is one and the bios is set up to boot the CDROM first and the computer can't find anything to boot from the CD, then this will happen. Otherwise, you should try to do a "clean" install of XP - meaning partition & format - not just a reinstall. Make sure once again after you complete that to take out the Windows XP disk and then reboot.
