Not finding any statistics that provide me with this kind of information (where our tax dollars are being spent), I want to know if its time for the American people to force our elected leaders to spend OUR tax dollars on problems within America. Personally as a tax payer I want to know that the entire amount of money I am paying for taxes is spent on American issues such as our infrastructure (transportation) education, retooling the US job market so we don't depend on China, India or other countries for goods. I am tired of watching my dollars go out to save other countries. How do you feel about this?

The U.S. only gives between 0.1-0.2% of the national budget to humanitarian aid. Most Americans think it's 50x higher than this. We are the richest country and give the least of developing countries. We have a responsibility to give more not less. Maybe we'd be better regarded and respected in the world community.

We do need to spend more on education and social programs. The problems is that more that 60% of the budget is going to the military. We don't need to start wars of aggression or have bases in more than 120 out of 191 countries. That's where we should get the money.

I think we should get our *** out of Iraq and clear the national debt before we help others.

We teach other countries to manage money with a 7 trillion dollar debt? You gotta be f*cking kidding me.

Also why do we need so many soliders? A few of our missles could blow up a nebula.

Education is worthless because not enough people want to learn until they realize how dumb they are.

And last of all, whoever voted for Bush...... how do you sleep at night?

This is going to be tough, because domestic spending occurs at every level of government. For example, there are interstate highways paid for by the federal government, state highways in every state, and local roads paid for by the thousands of municipal and county governments across the nation. But I can assure you of this: We spent many times more on domestic items than on foreign aid. And even with foreign aid, the greater part of our spending is geared toward furthering the American national interests elsewhere in the world.

I am with you 100%. American politicians think that they are creating good will in the world for us by buying others off with foreign aid. It just is not working.
I don't necessarily want the Congress to spend that money on more domestic programs - give it back to me. And, don't take it in the first place.
This country is in terrible shape economically and fiscally as you have globalist / internationalist politicians that spend like there's no limit. It is ridiculous.

I totally agree with you. I think it pathetic and sad that Congress passed a bill for money for rebuilding Iraq and for rebuilding the Gulf Coast and the money for Iraq was some ridiculous percentage higher. We need to solve our problems at home not the rest of the world's. Is it any wonder they all hate us? We should've just gone in and dragged Saddam kicking and screaming to the U.S. for a trial and left the country to the people there.

Don't you know that world security is in the best interest of America? Wars spill border to border. Natural resources are consumed by war. War is often a result of disparity of wealth and poverty.

If your feelings are to help those in the USA first that's cool. I just got back from cooking for a battered woman's shelter...what have YOU done for your fellow Americans lately?

I agree with this. We need to put our money back in the USA. We are out sourcing our JOBS to other countries, because we can pay them cheaper wages. Americans don't want to work for cheap wages. What needs to happen, is swallow our pride and keep our jobs here. WE NEED TO SEND THIS MESSAGE OUT TO THE YOUNGER GENERATION! When we have a disaster here. Do we see any other countries help us?

our problems. i believe we elected these people to serve us and serve our issues. we dont elect leaders to start a war in the middle east that cost 250 millions dollars a day in puts our country in debt. these politicians dont serve our interests becasue they were born rich and never had to face these issues on a daily basis in there lives. i find it funny that bush supporters complain about tax dollars going to the poor but not tax dollars going to spend on military weapons.

America has pulled in billions of dollars from the oil in Iraq in the last few years. It's a business. Forget the pittance that you contribute.

Agreed - It is disgusting that the world feels that we have to solve their local problems. To hell with America unless we are struck with an act of "inconvenient truth" such as hurricanes, earthquakes, famines, and disease. Al Gore personally ensured that whenever nature creates disasters naturally - we will now be blamed and should compensate because we have created global warming. Thanks AL.
