A friend of mine had a pearl/metallic custom job that he bought for his wife, with fully valenced fenders and blue pinstriping. Really looked neat, but he kept calling it "a great bike ... for a woman" and she never rode it. S'far as I know, it's still gathering dust in his garage. Pity.

I saw a white pearly finish on a car just last week. Looked like a new 2006 car - I believe it was a Toyota. Really pretty, too.

You aren't looking in the right places. I have seen this done a couple of times, though it isn't all the popular.
