In movie credits, they have something called a key grip. What is a key grip? Is that the guy who holds the microphone or what?

A grip basically sets up the equipment on the set apart from the lights (that's the gaffers job). They do set up things to change they way the light looks though using flags, diffusions, and things like that. They also are in charge of things related to the camera movement like dollies. The main grip is key grip.

The guy that holds the microphone is a boom operator.

A grip is basicly a raodie, they carry most of the equipment. Cheif grip (key grip) is the foreman, he/she tells the other grips where things go and is in charge of the equipment when it is not in use this person must know where every peice of equipment is at all times. the guy that holds the mic is called the sound tech, or shotgunner, depending on the mic being used. But grips position everything to make the filming possible

The key grip is the chief grip on the set. Grips create shadow effects with lights and operate camera cranes, dollies and platforms as directed by the cinematographer.
