I dont know how it could just poof. Go to Control Panel by clicking on the little Window key on your keyboard. Use the arrow keys to get to control panel and then use the tab key to select MOUSE. Hit Enter and it will open the MOUSE menu. Make sure you didnt accidentally set your mouse cursor to an invisible one.

You need to use the keyboard to direct you around your desktop for now until you figure out how to fix it. Anything you can do with your mouse, you can also do with your keyboard.

Turn off the computer. Remove the mouse plug and inspect the tiny connector pins on the mouse plug. If any are bent, try to fix the.

Put the plug back in, and turn on the computer.

If the mouse is JERKY and hard to control, remove the mouse ball. Use your fingernail to scrape the crude that builds up on the rollers that come in contract with the Ball.

Or get a new mouse. This time, get an Optical mouse. Staples sells one for about $10 that works great. Look for the Logitech brand.

depends on what it is actually doing...if you have an old mouse with the ball on the bottom, try taking the ball out and cleaning the ball and contacts...
