YenYen in downtown Cocoa Beach has very good Chinese food, and the prices are surprisingly low for the location. Jonathan's Dart Pub features drinks made with squeezed before your eyes citrus juice. Up in Cape Canaveral, next to SunSeed Co-op, there's a restaurant called either Mango's or Mangrove's. A wee bit on the elegant side (I wouldn't wear shorts), but oh so delicious! Bike rentals at RonJons are very reasonable, but remember that riding on the beach is possible only at LOW tide. Kennedy Space Center is a blast, haha. Seriously, it's worth spending a day there. Several gambling cruises "to nowhere" depart from Port Canaveral. Eat before you go, the food on board is mediocre to downright poor. If you want a super quiet undeveloped beach, go to Canaveral National Seashore, east of Titusville. There is no running water, no toilets, no vendors, so pack everything you will need. Ask locals if you can still stand on the beach at Second Light and watch the jet fighters flying into and out of Patrick Air Force base, and what times. When you hear them on the eastern horizon, look UP, not east, or you will miss them -- they are that fast. They used to come so close that you could see whether the pilot was black or white person. On the beach, one block north of RonJon's is a great little whiskey bar with fish tacos. Pelicans Pete's? It's a free standing building just north of a little park.

we recently were desperate for a beach day so we went to Jetty Park beach near port canaveral-if you get off the highway where the sun cruz casino boat docks, there are some really fantastic little restaurants there hidden away right on the port canal where all the cruise ships sail from(disney, NCL). Its great on a Sat or Sun when the ships are departing for the week, you can sit at the outdoor restaurants and wave to the gigantic ships. Its really fun for kids. and the beach is the nicest on the east coast- great sand and a nice park area too.
