there is a dial on the water heater and you need to turn that up. sometimes it will say degrees and sometimes it will have A, B, C....something like that. Just turn that up and your water will get hotter.

If you have a gas water heater, go to the heater and look at the t-stat gas valve. Usually on the front there is a knob with letters on it or settings that say hot and hotter. Turn the t-stat knob up. Give it a few days and see how hot the water is. You may have to adjust it several times. If you have an electric water heater, turn off the power, take off the two panels at the front. There is a t-stat behind each panel. Set them up to the same setting and give it a try. Make sure to turn the power back on! Good luck!!

There has to be some kind of thermostst on the outside of the water heater. Be careful. Turn it up a little at a time. If it is an electric water heater and it still isn't getting as hot as you would like you may have a problem with one of the two heaters mounted in it.

im a 12 year plumber and the way u get hotter water is open the little doors on the front of your heater, u should have an upper and lower door if u have a 40 gallon eletric heater. from there u will see a thermostat. on the thermostat there is a dial that u can turn with a flat head screwdriver to the desired heat setting. if that dont work u may need to call me and have yor elemnts replaced...lol

If you look at your water heater, there is a temp gauge. If you turn it up it will get hotter. You might even think about converting to a water heater that turns on and off and does not run constently. that will also save your bill each month. And for future reference.......it is not called a hot water heater..........it is a water heater. If your water was already hot then why would you need a "hot" water heater.

okay. are you sitting down? seriously. there is, a valve, to drain. first you need to shut down the heater. then attach a drain hose to a drain and open the drain valve...
also--how old is this water heater? is it past-it's-prime?
then you may wish-to attach a garden hose to the top of the water heater and flush-out whatever residue may be piled-up at the bottom of the heater...ensuring all you have is clean water draining...
when you feel it is, flushed-out,..close the valve and unattach drain hose.---fill heater...with garden hose.
re-light and see if it helps.

OR

call someone in and have a pro check it.

did you check the setting to see where the temperature is set-for also?
maybe it is just set too low and save yourself all this ...

good luck

Hi there :) Go to your hot water heater and towards the bottom there will be a thermostat to adjust the temp. It is suggested that with small children it should not exceed 120 degrees. I have mine set to 140 and it feels great :)

Remove the little side panel and reset the temperature , be careful it can burn you if you set it too high . The dial is little and is behind 2 panels , one above another , you have to set both to the same temperature . Be careful when opening the panels and don't touch the electrical wiring , take your time and go slow .
