nobody drinks tap water in viet nam ...NOBODY!.. some [ many buildings have water purification tanks on them but the filters are hardly ever changed... bottle water is available EVERYWHERE and its cheap. if you want to buy your own purification tank there are stores that sell them in all sizes, large enough for a grand hotel or small enough to fit on a stand in your kitchen... just ask around local people will direct you to a shop in your area... but the water even after it is filtered tastes terrible... buy btl water..

If you stay in Vietnam for a while to allow your body to adjust to the bacteria (acclimate), the tap water will be OK. The reason the Vietnamese don't get sick from the water is the resistance their bodies have created to their own local bacteria. I am sure if they visit other countries, the new bacteria will make them sick.
If you use the tap water, boil it.
I lived in Vietnam for nineteen months; once my body was acclimated to the bacteria, I used the same water as the local people, I was fine.

Much safer than the water from the poison taps...stay clear of those taps.

I have a lot of Vietnamese people working with me. They say the water is fine and they're still alive. lol
