"the world" has never supported any thing the United States has done. I don't feel we should have to go to countries like France with our hat in our hand and ask (like Oliver Twist asking for more mush) Please Sir I'd like to defend my country.

All right, All right since most of you can't seem to get around the fact that I used the word "We" how 'bout this? Why are so many Americans so obsessed with what the "World" thinks of us. There is that better Gosh get a grip.

You are SOOOO right! We are not living in a utopian world government, we are living in the good old US of A, and WE are in charge of our country and what America does.

Allies are important, but world opinion cannot dominate or dictate our actions, or our ability do protect and defend our country.

You don't like to be obsessed or concerned about your image around the world? Allright. You don't want to care about what the world thinks? That's fine too.

Now please terminate all business and trade relations with other countries around the world. That means you can't import oil; you can't import electronics; you can't import textiles; you can't set up businesses elsewhere in the world, so you can't sell all the products you sell: software, coke, aircraft, computers. Oh wait you can't sell computers anyways because they are made in South East Asia. Anyhoo, you can't fly to Europe or South America or wherever. You can't have military bases in Europe, Middle East, Japan etc. You can't utilize the people from all over the world that has come to enrich your society. You shouldn't be using the Web, because the Web that you are using right now was invented by a European scientist. You can't have ships floating around the oceans of the world. Also you should immediately pay China back the money you owe them.

In short, get all the natural born American citizens, ask them stop doing whatever they are doing and get back into the USA. Then pay back all the money you owe people around the world. Once you have done that Do Not Step Outside your borders. And don't contact anyone outside your borders either.

Agreed?

I am not obsessed with the world image of our States. I do not care what they think and I have a reason. I am in the United States because my ancestors were pushed, starved or thrown out of other Countries. I am here because my ancestors where condemned, persecuted and the unwanted poor. It is true that some ppl from the States were slave traders, that does not diminish the horror of the immigrations of others... Do I care what another Country thinks, No. Do some countries in the world hate us still, yes but let me ask what is new about that? Many citizens of these Countries hated us when they kicked our ancestors out. I think much of the World owes us an apology for being intolerant of our ancestors and throwing them on ships to come here. I look at my family tree and see that my g-g-father Sullivan came from Ireland on a coffin ship at age 14 alone, trying to stay alive... ok that said, blast me..

I won't say people are "obsessed." Concerned, maybe? I don't think there's anything wrong with diplomacy ... to a point. Our relationships with foreign countries are complicated at best. There are deals made, situations handled, interests involved...that we may never know about. Plus no one wants to be hated. That never really amounts to good. There are a lot of intricacies to foreign policy. I don't think we're asking for permission so much as ...since we're making a decision that could potentially affect the entire world (which would include France), we're going to see what you have to say about it first and then make a decision. Ultimately, the decision is ours, but I don't think it hurts to have input from other countries when ours isn't the only country that will be affected. I think it makes sense from that standpoint.

you guys are both scary. World opinion is EXACTLY what the US should listen to!
Thats why the UN was created in the first place to prevent further world wars!!

What about countries like Cuba, Columbia, and many middle eastern countries?? They all feel threatened by the US, does that mean they should invade?

Defend your country against Sadaam who was never a threat in the first place? Take your head out of Bush's *** and actually look at the evidence.

No WMD's, No Ties to Al-Qaidi before the Iraq War (Thanks for the second longest war in US History Bush). The reason "the world" thinks we are immoral is because of asshats like you who just shoot and don't even bother to ask questions later.

First of all, be careful whenever using the word "we", unless you carry around a turd in your pocket. America is a melting pot, and "we" differ greatly in our thoughts and opinions. The U.S. is not really so "united" when it comes to our political views.

Some americans care about what the world thinks, and some don't. I am of the latter category, and could care less about what "they" think. There are more people that think like me than what you think, its just that we dont advertise it. We are the silent majority.

I dont think we are obsessed with how we look to other countries because maybe if we were a little more concerned we would not act like such selfish, greedy, disgusting, rude, and immoral people. This country seems to revolve around money, sex, greed, violence. What Do other countries think of us? Probably not much!

it is an "EGO" holiday human beings have.i'm like you,i do not provide a crap what others imagine.see you later as i'm sparkling and performance sparkling clothing, why care? The humorous ingredient about their ego is the price ticket that got here with it.sure ,those mastercard costs. I actual have the pride of under no circumstances having those costs "to only slot in" .Now because the monetary equipment is contained in the crapper,I see better human beings dropping that "Society look" and their crew they had to slot in is ignoring them. I realized that i do no longer should be like each and every individual else to be at liberty.

Don't put a blanket statement like that out there - I personally don't care what the rest of the world thinks of us. They sure don't have any damn problems taking our tax dollars for anything. The only people that seem to care what spineless European countries, rogue nations, tyrannical dictators and terrorists are the LIBERALS & DEMOCRAPS!!
