It's one hell of a program, the interface for what I can best describe as a machine simulator thingy ; ) (with Access and Fortran 77). Is there a VB 6 to VB .NET/2005 converter out there? I suppose there is one on Microsoft VB 2005, but how much of the job does it do?
I'm also having trouble finding some code for VB (have a dozen VB6 books) but still can't find most (if not all) of what I need. Anywhere I can go online?

Much thanks!

Actually it is very easy, Visual Studio comes with a wizard to convert it. Some minor problems occur when the cmddlg32 is needed. They where shipped with VB6 but are replaced with mscomctl so you have to add this referenz to your project.

Sometimes it's hard; sometimes it's easy.

You sound like you have a very complex program. You'll probably run into a few hundred errors during the conversion. Simple programs can sometimes make the upgrade with minimal problems, but more complex ones have more issues. You'll ifnd yourself going back and rewriting sections of code (especially those sections which involve using APIs and OCXs and ActiveXs etcetc), and re-declaring things. It's a big of a hassle, but it is possible (if you know VB.NET programming well).

Hope I helped,

VB (a.ok.a VB6 version 6) become the finest significant launch earlier dot information superhighway. the present VB2005(expressed version blanketed) is version 8 (VB2003 being ver 7) There are significant undemanding differences interior the dot information superhighway international. i'd study the most modern version and not in any respect truly worry studying the old.
